Do Catholics really worship images?
On Trinity Sunday, June 2nd 1996, two religious fanatics entered the side door of the Basilica in Nairobi and smashed three seventy year old statues of the Holy Family before two thousand worshipers. It shocked the whole nation and raised the age-old question: "Do Catholics really worship images?"
This video shows the world full of images. They are found everywhere - in homes, wallets and purses; parks, public institutions, museums and Churches. We express our faith both in writing and works of art. We need human forms to help us understand how God reveals himself to humanity. Catholics know very well the difference between venerating and worshiping images. they know that only God alone is to be worshiped and adored.
