Faye Dunaway (Diana Christensen), William Holden (Max Schumacher), Peter Finch (Howard Beale), Robert Duvall (Frank Hackett), Beatrice Straight (Louise Schumacher).
Story of the fierce fights for power among network officials. Howard Beale is a top TV anchorman, who announces one day that he will blow his brains out in prime time, for the sake of the ratings. He goes from a dispassionate newscaster to a national folk hero with his famous battle cry, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" Diana Christensen, the Vice President of Programming, Max Schumacher, the News Division President and Frank Hackett, the hatchet man for the corporation, all participate in glorifying Beale as their star and in his ultimate destruction.
