Internal communication contains the information needed to drive the achievement of the organizational vision, mission and the set objectives. Organizations become effective, efficient and attain good relations with the internal constituents if they communicate strategically and consistently. Employee engagement, a new construct in human resource management, leads to high employee performance, retention of employees, efficiency in organizations and effectiveness in handling the core and non-core activities of organizations. The objective of this study was to examine the association between internal organizational communication and employee engagement. It looked at the association between the message, superior and frequency of communication; and employee engagement. The study was carried out at the Renal unit - Kenyatta National hospital using the survey study design. Questionnaires were used to collect data from a sample drawn from the whole population of the Renal unit using systematic random sampling. The collected data was analyzed using Pearson moment correlation coefficient analysis tool to show the correlation between various factors of the two variables and the strength of their association. The study is beneficial to organizations that would be keen to utilize internal communication to attain employee engagement. An engaged workforce is efficient and effective in their operations and is focused in attaining organizational goals. Additionally, the study provided more insight and knowledge on the association between internal organizational communication and employee engagement since not much literature is available on the subject matter in hospital set-up.
