Summary, etc Employee motivation is one of the major issues faced by every organization. It is the major task of every manager to motivate his subordinates or to create the 'will to work' among the subordinates. It should also be remembered that a worker may be immensely capable of doing some work; nothing can be achieved if he is not willing to work. A manager has to make appropriate use of motivation to enthuse the employees to follow them. The general objective of the study was to investigate the factors that motivate the employees and the organizational functions at DT Dobie and Company Kenya Limited. The study specifically sought to; examine the extent to which quality of the working conditions influence employees motivation; examine the extent to which employee recognition influence employees motivation and lastly determine the extent to which level of pay and benefits influence employees motivation at DT Dobie and Company Kenya Limited. The study used descriptive research design. The population of the study consisted of all departments in DT Dobie & Company Kenya Limited. Stratified random sampling technique was used to give a sample size of 38 which was selected from a total population of 384 employees. The study collected quantitative data. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. The researcher used drop and pick later method. Complete questionnaires were coded and arranged serially to make it easy to identify. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. These included measures of central tendency (the mean), measures of variability (standard deviation) and measures of relative frequencies. The findings were presented in tables, figures and charts. The study concludes that employee recognition plays a vital role as a motivation strategy; employees should be feet appreciated by the organization and their efforts and abilities recognized and that employees who do a good job should be rewarded and the benefit package for the employee should be equitable. It is clear from the study that the employee's motivation has direct impact on productivity and growth. A highly motivated employee invests his / her best efforts in carrying out each and every element of his / her duties and responsibilities. Enhanced job performances of the employee will add value to the organization itself and to the employee's productivity.
